Telecom infrastructure consists of Datacenter, Main Switching Center and scattered Point of Presence (PoP). The datacenter primarily consists of servers running applications like Customer Database, Billing, Project Management, Email, Helpdesk, etc. The Main Switching Center is the backbone setup of a telecom service provider which consists of Telecom Switches, Multiplexers, Routers, Modems, etc. These equipments could be their own or with current Global network village connectivity; third country equipments are also present and needs manageability. These equipments are connected to various exchanges & PoP’s which in turn are connected to the customer via a Last Mile medium.

Since maintaining highest level of uptime is a prime necessity as any breakdown can affect the entire service with huge monetary or business loss.

Key challenges faced by Telecom service providers in managing such infrastructure are
• Consolidated and Centralized management of all units at various levels
• Maintaining and managing critical | Non Critical; manned and un-manned PoP’s
• Effective Local and Global Infrastructure management
• Continuous monitoring of primary and redundant links
• High and alternate means of access to equipment for issue and outage resolution
• Maximizing uptime
