CPS 810
The Avocent CPS810 is an eight port appliance-like Telnet server that provides administrators with a centralized means to access serially managed devices through access at the rack or access over IP connections.

A single 100BaseT port provides network connectivity and 8 serial ports provide attachment to managed devices. In conjunction with DS1800 and other Avocent solutions, the CPS product line offers a full range of KVM and console connectivity to servers and serial devices in the data center. Combined with Avocent's new SPC800 and SPC1600 power management over IP devices, you can have total control of devices in your data center. As part of the DS Series, Avocent's DSView provides centralized management of the CPS network appliance with DSView, you can access all of your data center devices using a standard IP connection. The DSWebview feature provides secure, browser-based access to virtually any data center device via Avocent's DS Series product suite. Avocent's DSView interface provides secure 'point-and-click' control to any connected device, using IP connections. For added user security, Avocent's DSAuth user authentication software stores permissions, topology and per-device contact information for the DS Series. It also performs third party authentication during connection to the switch. Note: DSView and DSAuth are sold separately.
• vCONSOLE 1.x, which ships free with each CPS, is a point and click utility that simplifies device discovery, access and control. vConsole is a Java application that has been tested across a wide range of Unix, Linux and Windows platforms. vConsole provides a built-in Telnet client and interfaces directly with the system default browser
• Intuitive: vConsole and DSView provide you with an intuitive tree view interface to locate and access your data center devices. With support for custom labels and icons, it is no longer necessary to recall cryptic machine names and IP addresses to locate and access devices. Ease of access is further enhanced through built-in Telnet client and browser interfaces
• Field upgrades: On-board support for TFTP makes it possible to upload new functionality to CPS units deployed in the field
• CPS devices provide connectivity to devices such as: servers, routers, Power management devices, Telco and network switches, firewalls and DSLAMs
CPS 1610
The Avocent CPS1610 is a sixteen port appliance-like Telnet server that provides administrators with a centralized means to access serially managed devices through access at the rack or access over IP connections

The Avocent CPS delivers secure and reliable serial-over-IP access to console ports of servers and serially managed devices such as network hubs and routers. Cutting-edge console port server features such as offline history buffering and hardware break suppression distinguish the CPS from simplistic terminal servers, which are often misused for this purpose. The CPS is available in 8 and 16-port models in a 1U form factor. To meet the needs of small, medium and large data centers, CPS units, and attached devices, can be centrally managed using Avocent's unique DS Management Software, or accessed in standalone manner using third-party software or Avocent's vConsole Management Software.
• Complete KVM, Serial and Power Management Solution: The CPS works in unison with other Avocent appliances such as the DS1800, the DSR and the SPC to enable administrators to manage a wide range of data center devices through local access at the rack or remote access over IP connections.
• Centralized Management: Avocent's DS Management Software coordinates remote access to DS appliances, and attached devices, in centralized manner. The software suite consists of the DSView client, the DSAuth central authentication, access control and audit server, and DSAdmin for administration of DS user accounts and appliances. DSWebview provides browser-based users with a secure gateway into the DS environment. The DS Management Software is sold separately.
• Rock-solid Security: The CPS offers internal and external user authentication methods and port-specific access rights.
• Ease of Access: Avocent management software provides an explorer function that presents your servers within an intuitive graphical user interface, allowing you to locate and access your critical resources via a simple mouse click. With support for custom labels and icons, it is no longer necessary to recall cryptic machine names or IP addresses.
• Avocent Telnet Client: The CPS, which is compatible with third-party SSH and Telnet clients, comes complete with Avocent's Java-based Telnet client. The supplied Telnet client offers file-based session logging, cut and paste, print screen, session history, macro support and a wide range of terminal emulations.
• Browser Access: DSWebview combines ease of Internet access with central security and management.
• Scalable: The CPS architecture is scalable rather than stackable; there are no restrictions on the number of DS appliances that can be added to an installation.
• Non-blocked Access: The CPS architecture supports simultaneous sessions to all serial ports.
