The Company
|
Spradecom Electro Controls (P) Ltd is a well established company specializing in the development and supply of innovative products to the Process Automation industry. Spradecom undertakes development of turnkey systems for process automation as well as microprocessor-based drives for AC/DC motors. It is also one of the leading OEMs catering to the textiles, pharmaceuticals, packaging, paper and painting industries, as well as plastic machine tools. Some well known products from Spradecom's range are :
• Digital Timers, Digital Process Controller and Programming Counters
• Data Loggers and Programmable Logic Controllers
• Programmable Process Controllers
• Pressure indicators and Controllers for plastic extruders
• Control Panels

|
The Problem
|
Spradecom required a variety of enclosure types for their different applications. These enclosures would need to have some basic attributes which their earlier enclosures lacked.
• A sturdy structure - one which was rigid enough to prevent shopfloor vibrations from causing connectivity problems
• Compactness - and a high degree of modularity
• Aesthetics of an international level
• Facility for incorporating EMI/RFI shielding
• Solutions for mounting of PCBs and incorporating features for
locking card guides
In order to meet these requirements Spradecom had been sourcing enclosure products from different suppliers - which created difficulties in managing multiple vendors.

The Solution
|
After making a careful assessment of Spradecom's problem, APW President made a set of recommendations which would lead to a comprehensive solution to the problems faced.
• The Cyberack Deluxe was recommended as the main systems enclosure. This product family has the requisite rigidity, modularity and scores very high on aesthetics. It also has the facility to incorporate EMI/RFI gasketing when required.
• The basic cabinet was to be provided with a base plinth so as to enhance rigidity in high vibration environment, as well as to provide clearance for incoming cables from below.
• A customized gland plate was provided at the bottom, as well as customized arrangement at the top for direct mounting of fans.
• For PCB mounting and integration the Series 20 Card Frame family was recommended, along with Plug-in-Modules for the safe housing of critical components.

The Benefits
|
• The Cyberack Deluxe provides enhanced stability and rigidity due to advanced structural design features incorporated. The main frame members are extremely rugged, due to which rigidity is integral to the design.
• Customized cut-outs for cable entry ensures fast cable installation and maintenance.
• Ingress of dust in harsh shopfloor environments is prevented due to a special ventilation pattern in the Top cover
• The Series 20 Card frames provides easy integration of PCBs and other components and sub-assemblies
• The use of Plug-In-Modules provides RFI shielding and therefore reduces cross-talk from adjacent circuitry.
These resulting benefits proved very effective and the solution provided by APW President ensured that all of Spradecom's problems and concerns were resolved.
